Hello,
My name is Patrick, and I’m passionate about working with the Unreal Engine.
My journey into game development started with RPG Maker 95 and continued through RPG Maker 2000, 2003, XP, and VX until I finally decided to switch to proper game engines.
I then transitioned to the 3D Game Studio (known as A6 back then). However, I soon realized the limitations of that engine, so my path led me to Unity. Although the engine itself was fantastic, I didn’t enjoy the overall workflow as much.
Eventually, I found my way to Unreal Engine. I quickly fell in love with UMG. The object-based workflow was a perfect fit for me, and I was able to dive into Blueprints without much effort. Later on, I added a solid amount of C++ to my skill set.
Today, I’ve been working as a freelance UI/UX developer for over 10 years.
But I never gave up on my passion for my very first game idea. With all my experience and connections in the game industry, I’m now bringing this idea to life. “The Tavern” is the first step. Every spare minute I can find, outside of time with my wife and dog, is dedicated to this project.
Of course, you sometimes need a quick round of Satisfactory, Planet Coaster, or Dungeon Keeper-style games (especially the original) to clear your head, but I never neglect this project.
During breaks, I enjoy working on UI/UX and game systems for Discord users in the Unreal Source Discord and occasionally take on new projects.
Feel free to have a look around.
From now on, the drinks are flowing – cheers!
